Family in mourning as Gloversville Police identify body as missing Johnstown man

Family mourns man found dead in Gloversville

Gloversville Police are investigating how a man's body ended up on the bank of a creek Tuesday afternoon.

Gloversville Police have identified the body that was found in the Cayadutta Creek as a Johnstown man who had been missing since July.

James E. Anderson Sr., 48, was found around 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday near the brush dump.

Anderson was last seen alive last summer, and had been reported missing. The Fulton County Sheriff’s Office was investigating.

Investigators are still trying to figure out how he died, they said.

The portion of River Street near S. Main Street, which had been closed, has reopened. The portion of Beaver Street near the brush dump and the dump itself is also back open.

His daughter, Megan Anderson, has organized a GoFundMe on behalf of the family.

She tells NewsChannel 13 that people called her father Jim Bob and he loved country music, fishing and camping. She said she was close to his family even as he battled addiction.

Megan Anderson said he had been in rehab seeking the help that he needed and he had been celebrating clean and sober milestones just before he went missing.

“He wanted to be in mine and my brother’s lives. I think that he struggled with his own demons and whatnot, so he couldn’t really step up to that father plate. But we all knew that he had fatherly love for me and my brother. He loved his mother to pieces, my grandmother,” she said.

Police have not said whether they suspect foul play in this case.
