Gov Hochul requests federal disaster help for western New York

Governor Kathy Hochul is requesting a major disaster declaration, after that historic December storm that rocked western New York.

The declaration would provide federal disaster help for local governments in several western New York counties.
It would also provide funeral assistance and crisis counseling for those communities.
Record-breaking snowfall around Christmas time led to the deaths of 47 New Yorkers and caused widespread power outages.
