Gov. Hochul signs disability legislation package

Governor Kathy Hochul signed a legislative package meant to help strengthen the rights of people with disabilities.

This marks the 32nd anniversary of the Americans with Disabilities Act. One of these bills aims to support decision-making by people with non – physical disabilities.

One bill will establish a public awareness campaign aiming to fight stigma and stereotyping.

It will also introduce legislation to replace offensive terms.

This legislation hopes to promote autonomy for people with disabilities. Hochul says she hopes this legislation will make New York accessible for all.
