Hochul offering additional assistance for heating homes

Gov. Kathy Hochul is offering New Yorkers more opportunities to save money on home energy bills. The governor announced Tuesday that a second emergency benefit is available to eligible New Yorkers through the Home Energy Assistance Program.
The amount of assistance people receive from HEAP depends on income, household size, and how the home is heated.
Applications can be sent in through the Department of Social Services in person or by phone.
