Greene County man convicted of possessing child pornography
A 76-year-old Greene County man was found guilty on Wednesday of possessing child pornography.
Gregory Kurzajczyk, of East Durham, was convicted after a three-day trial in federal court. Prosecutors presented evidence during the trial that showed he had child pornography on two laptops and two USB drives. The images depicted the sexual abuse of small children, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office.
Kurzajczyk had served time in prison from January 2017 to October 2021 on previous convictions of child pornography possession.
A U.S. probation officer found an unauthorized laptop in plain view in Kurzajczyk’s bedroom during a routine visit on Feb. 16, 2022, which led to the discover of the other electronic devices with the images.
Kurzajczyk faces a term of 10 to 20 years in prison when sentenced on Feb. 23, 2024.
