Greenville man accused of driving drunk, leading police on a chase

A Greenville man was arrested for allegedly driving drunk and leading police on a chase that ended in a crash.

At about midnight on Wednesday, a trooper was patrolling near the intersection of state Route 32 and Route 23A in Catskill when he saw a 2019 white Honda Civic traveling at a high rate of speed. The trooper attempted to stop the vehicle.

The driver, later identified as 19-year-old Joshua David Apjohn, did not stop but took off into the town of Cairo, police said. After a 5-mile chase, Apjohn lost control of his car on Ira Vail Road and left the west shoulder and struck a tree.

Two 17-year-old passengers were in the vehicle. One was treated and released at Columbia Greene Medical Center.

Apjohn was treated and released at Albany Medical Center for minor injuries. He charged with DWI.
