Albany lawmakers are accusing Gov. Kathy Hochul of underestimating the state’s minimum wage.

Several legislators gathered Wednesday to urge state lawmakers to reject the governor’s proposal to raise

New York’s minimum wage to $17 an hour downstate by 2026, and upstate by 2028.

The group – which is sponsoring the “Raise the Wage Act” – is urging lawmakers to raise the wage to $21.25 an hour.

Hochul said Wednesday she’s optimistic a final budget deal could come soon.
