People gathered in Guilderland over the weekend to remember the lives lost in the Israel-Hamas war, and those who remain in captivity.

The event was organized by local groups Amidah Albany and Run For Their Lives.

People held signs with the names of those killed by Hamas last year.

Co-founder Laura Weisblatt says this isn’t just about remembering the victims, it’s also about taking a stand against antisemitism as the war reaches its first anniversary.

“We and our organization stepped up to combat the misinformation and lies being spread about Israel and the Jewish people, to fight antisemitism, to stand up for Israel and for the Jewish community locally,” said Weisblatt. “The days of being a quiet Jew are over. We’re here showing our solidarity, our support, and our resolve. We’re united in our community and our grief.”
