Guilderland Library board to discuss next steps after cafe’s racism allegations
Guilderland Public Library to hold meeting on Wednesday
The Guilderland Public Library board will hold a special meeting on Wednesday to discuss the next steps after allegations of racism surfaced.
The library is investigating claims made by the owners of Café Con Mel, which said they were forced to close last week after enduring harassment by staff and patrons.
Library officials have acknowledged a poor working relationship because of behavior of some staff. However, they deny that they were racist and attributed some of the dispute to a disagreement over roles and responsibilities of library staff and café staff.
The meeting will take place at 6 p.m.
