Police: Student, 13, brought loaded gun to Schenectady middle school
Troy Police investigate a shooting that took place near 6th Avenue and 103rd Street around 4 p.m.
A 13-year-old is under arrest after police said he brought a loaded gun to Mont Pleasant Middle School in Schenectady.
The school went into lockout mode Friday after staff found the .45-caliber gun in a student’s backpack. The incident took place around 1 p.m.
The gun was discovered when a member of the school’s safety team opened the backpack. Police were contacted and the district’s community engagement officer responded, according to a statement from the district.
At this time, police do not believe the student made any threats.
The seventh-grader is being charged with criminal possession of a weapon.
His name is not being released due to his age.
