Hip hop’s 50th anniversary being honored by New York State

In honor of hip hop’s 50th anniversary, New York is kicking off an event called the “I Love NY Summer of Hip Hop.”
It will include concerts and performances at venues across the state.
The Capital Region celebration is August 2 at Empire State Plaza in Albany, as part of the “Summer at the Plaza” series.
It is said hip hop started August 11, 1973 in New York, setting off a musical revolution around the world.
