Cohoes is receiving $10 million through the Downtown Revitalization Grant Program.

Gov. Kathy Hochul made the announcement at Cohoes Music Hall on Friday morning.

Cohoes Mayor Bill Keeler says this money will help with several downtown initiatives.

“DRI funding will ensure that new buildings go up on our now vacant fire site on Remsen Street, which has been vacant for a couple of years now following the fire,” said Keeler. “These new buildings will house new apartments, which will mean more customers and expanded business hours. The expanded business hours will draw in more people to Cohoes who will want to live in these apartments, who will draw in new businesses. So it will just be an upward spiral. This DRI really gives us the pop that we’ve been waiting for.”

The governor also announced smaller grants for Kinderhook, Coxsackie and Cambridge.
