Gov. Kathy Hochul unveiled new measures Friday the state will be taking to crack down on the many illegal cannabis businesses across New York.

There are 112 registered and legal cannabis dispensaries operating in the state and 36,000 illegal shops.

New York’s Office of Cannabis Management will now be looking for the illegal shops that are selling unlicensed products, selling anything that makes people sick, and selling near schools, churches, and kids.
Violating businesses could be padlocked and closed by the state.

Stores in violation will be given a warning to stop selling cannabis the first time. A second violation will result in the state putting locks on the business and closing them down.
