Gov. Hochul is bolstering the state’s response to gun violence, with $13.6 million in funding is going to aid victims, survivors and their families.

More than $9 million of that funding will allow the state to continue supporting more than 30 non-profit organizations and hospitals.

The funding will allow those organizations to deploy gun violence intervention staff through next year.

Gun seizures have increased significantly in the first six months of this year, with state police seizing nearly 700 guns, twice as many as the same time last year.
