This “Domestic Violence Awareness Month” comes with new state guidance for law enforcement agencies when responding to domestic incidents.

Gov. Kathy Hochul announced those new procedures on Tuesday, which includes handling all domestic calls as high priority, and dispatching at least two officers to every domestic incident.

Officers should search for weapons in the home and for any recording devices.
