Hochul plans crackdown on illegal cannabis sales
Gov. Kathy Hochul plans on cracking down on stores selling cannabis without a license.
As part of her State of the State Address – she outlined some measures she wants to implement this year.
They include expanding the powers of the Office of Cannabis Management and authorizing local governments to execute closure orders.
She also wants to create new registries of licensed cannabis businesses.
Selling cannabis illegally can carry fines of at least $10,000 per day, and in some cases $20,000 a day or more.
