A new law will support women recovering from breast cancer.

Gov. Kathy Hochul signed the bill Friday, meant to aid breast cancer survivors who choose reconstruction surgery after a mastectomy.

It’s meant to make sure those survivors have proper insurance.

It will require breast reconstruction and chest wall reconstruction to be covered by insurance.

One in eight women in the United States will be diagnosed with breast cancer in their lifetimes.

October is “Breast Cancer Awareness Month.”
