Gov. Hochul said Friday the treatment of women during the pandemic was a “big mistake” that “led to chaos.”
Intent on making sure it never happens again, the governor also announced the New York State Labor Department will launch a study to figure out why women bore of the brunt of the pandemic.
Making that announcement on Women’s Equality Day, the governor pointed out women couldn’t go to their jobs during the pandemic because kids couldn’t go to school.
Then after the kids were allowed back into their classrooms, many of the jobs women held before the pandemic began weren’t there anymore.
She says many of them still haven’t returned.
