Gov. Kathy Hochul is urging New Yorkers to stay off the roads for another night.
With the snow continuing to fall and high winds forecasted, she said she is worried more trees and power lines could continue to come down.
“This is a very heavy snow, and that’s a different dynamic when it comes down to the vulnerability of our power lines and our tree limbs.”
Hochul said the North Country has been hit especially hard, with more than two feet of snow in some spots.
”We have all the resources, the plows, the salters, the forklift drivers. Everybody who’s involved in removing snow to make sure our roads are clear,” Hochul said, as she talked about what’s being done in the state.
Thousands of utility crews are helping to make repairs caused by the storm, Hochul said.
The National Guard is also ready to help in areas where they’re needed.
