Hurricane Julia rips through Nicaragua

As parts of the world pick of the pieces left behind form Hurricane Ian and Hurricane Fiona in recent weeks – a new storm is now brewing.

We’re looking live at the radar for Hurricane Julia as is rips through Nicaragua right now.

Julia started as a tropical storm early Saturday but gained strength and became a category one hurricane as it moved toward San Andres Island in the early evening.

The Colombian president has declared a maximum alert this morning, imposing street curfews and grounding all flights on the islands.

In Nicaragua, authorities issued an alert for all types of vessels to seek safe harbor as the hurricane neared landfall.
