Indiana murder suspect caught in Pittsfield

A man wanted for murder in Indiana has been arrested in Pittsfield.

Dalonny Rodgers was arrested by Pittsfield Police earlier this month as part of an investigation into a stolen car.

That’s when police say they learned he was accused of shooting and killing two people from Texas at a hotel in Indiana in September 2022. They were Jose Rolando Castaneda Varela, 34, and Alfredo Garcia, 52.

Rodgers is now facing separate charges in Pittsfield – including larceny of a motor vehicle, resisting arrest, assault and battery on a police officer, furnishing a false ID and marijuana possession.

He is currently being held in Pittsfield pending extradition to Indiana.
