Injured hikers keep Capital Region rescuers busy
Forest rangers in the Capital Region have been busy over the past week, according to the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation.
It started last Wednesday, when a 35-year-old hiker hurt their ankle at Huckleberry Point in the Kaaterskill Wild Forest.
A utility terrain vehicle extricated the woman and splinted her ankle.
Then on Sunday, a 70-year-old man was rescued from Black Mountain in Dresden, Washington County, investigators said.
The man was with a group from the YMCA, and he became too exhausted to keep hiking on his own.
Later that same day, a person slipped and broke their finger while hiking in Kaaterskill Wild Forest.
The person slid about 15 feet and was given a splint.No one was seriously hurt in any of the incidents.
