Troy man admits to trying to meet up with young child for sex

A Troy man is pleading guilty to attempting to entice a 13-year-old into having sex with him.

U.S. Attorney’s Office of Northern New York says say 26-year-old Brian Botsford admitted to sending sexually explicit text messages to an undercover investigator posing as a child, between July and August of 2020.

He is also accused of attempting to meet the undercover officer in Troy to have sex.

Botsford was arrested by an investigator in disguise, after he attempted to meet up with the girl.
He faces 10 years to life in prison.
