Jury deliberations have started in an Albany murder trial.

Closing arguments took place on Tuesday in the trial of Kerdel Young. He’s charged with second-degree murder in the February 2023 death of Anthony Dias. The shooting happened in Albany’s Pine Hills neighborhood. It was the city’s first homicide that year.

Young shot Dias multiple times in the middle of the afternoon and died at the scene, according to investigators.

Young faces significant prison time if convicted.
