Latham woman overcomes breast cancer, husband’s affair as they stick together

A Latham woman learned her husband was having an affair, then she was diagnosed with breast cancer. In a surprise to many, she decided while fighting that battle, she would forgive him.

Gina Tronco of Latham thought she was living a storybook life and others thought it too.

All that changed on July 2, 2017, when she received a text from a woman while she and her family were on vacation in Mexico.

The woman told Tronco she was having an affair with her husband. It turned out to be true.

The Latham woman smiled behind her tears all day, wanting not to ruin vacation for her kids. However, the truth is she was beyond heartbroken by the betrayal from the man she’d known since school.

It would get worse. She learned there was more than one affair.

Family and friends understandably told her to divorce him. As she dealt with what decision to make, she received another blow. She was diagnosed with breast cancer. Her husband joined forces with her to fight it.

As she fought for her life and prayed to God, Tronco, a former music teacher, decided she would forgive her husband.

Then courageously, she made another decision to be transparent with the world about her betrayal in a new book called “Why Is This Happening To Me?”
