Mohonasen welcomes 70 migrants to school

The Mohonasen Central School District began the school year with 70 migrant students.

They are all part of 70 migrant families who moved from New York City to the Motel 8 in Rotterdam.

The majority of those students speak Spanish as a first language, but some speak Chinese and at least one speaks Haitian Creole or French.

Mohonasen has responded by hiring two English as a new language teachers.
