New Russell Sage program aimed at meeting needs of criminal justice system

The Russell Sage College in partnership with Albany County has launched a new initiative to meet the needs of the criminal justice system.

According to Russell Sage College, New York state has closed 24 correctional facilities sine 2011.

The new program would help relieve the strain on the probation and parole workforce and drive the need for more community corrections professionals.

The field of corrections is rapidly changing due to the high cost of maintaining prisons, those with knowledge of the situation said.
