A 40-year-old man was rescued Tuesday after being trapped under a porch that had collapsed in Bethlehem.

Police and EMS units responded to a residence on Rowland Avenue in the area of Delaware Avenue around 11:45 p.m. for a report of a partial porch collapse, according to the Albany County Sheriff’s Office.

The victim had been sitting on his porch when it collapsed without warning, police said.

The Albany County Sheriff’s Office Technical Search and Rescue Team, along with the Slingerlands, Westmere and Colonie fire departments assisted at the scene. They used high pressure air bags and a rope system to lift off the concrete and remove him from the foundation within about an hour, police said.

The victim was taken to Albany Medical Center for treatment of non life-threatening injuries.
