Man, 71, charged in crash that killed South Colonie student

A 71-year-old man was arrested in connection with a May crash that claimed the life of a 17-year-old South Colonie High School student.

Thomas McGrath, 71, of Slingerlands is facing charges including aggravated vehicular homicide.

Michael Kleinke, 17, of Colonie was killed.

McGrath was arraigned and released to probation. His driver’s license is suspended, police said.

McGrath is due back in court next month.
