Man arrested after threatening woman with machete, gun to her head in Edinburg
The Saratoga County Sheriff’s Office arrested a man on Thursday after threatening a female with a gun to her head and threatening her with a machete.
Police got a call for an active domestic incident on Sinclair Road in Edinburg at 12:23 a.m. that morning.
The female said that the male held a gun to her head and threatened her with a machete, according to officials.
Following the incident, the woman was able to exit the residence, after which the man had left, padlocked the doors from the exterior, and entered the residence again by climbing through a window, said police.
After the Sheriff’s Office was unable to make contact with the man via loudspeaker upon arrival, the Sheriff’s Office’s Special Operations Team and crisis negotiators were dispatched to the residence.
Authorities say after several hours of no activity, the Special Operations Team was successful in calling the man out of the residence. He was taken into custody without further incident.
The Sheriff’s Office says the man was charged with two counts of second-degree menacing, one count of fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon, and second-degree harassment.
Officials say he was arraigned in Corinth Town Court and released on his own recognizance pending further action in the matter in Edinburg Town Court.
