Man connected to Capital Region cocaine ring sentenced
A man connected to a Capital Region cocaine ring now knows his sentence.
Jan Lopez Colon from Troy was sentenced to 10 years in prison for his role as the leader of a cocaine smuggling ring.
He pleaded guilty last December admitting that between June and December of 2021 he received more than 5 kilograms (about 11 pounds) of cocaine from Puerto Rico.
He admitted he distributed it across the Capital Region.
He will also face 5 years of a supervised release.
He has three co-defendants who all also pleaded guilty.
One was sentenced to five years, the other two will be sentenced later this year.
