Man convicted of attempted murder in deadly 2021 Albany robbery

A man was convicted of seven charges in Albany County Supreme Court Tuesday afternoon.

Demetries Smith, 35, of Albany was convicted of attempted murder, attempted robbery, and weapons possession, the Albany County District Attorney’s office said.

The indictment alleged that Smith killed someone during a robbery in October 2021 in the area of 32 North Swan Street.

Smith was also accused of trying to kill someone in the area of 604 Livingston Avenue.

He was also accused of possessing a loaded firearm three separate times.

He will be sentenced in April.

NOTE: An earlier version of this story erroneously reported Smith was also found guilty on a murder charge in connection with an incident on North Swan Street.
