A man has died after he was arrested Friday afternoon in Lansingburgh, according to Troy Police.

The man was taken into custody after police responded to a report of someone trespassing in Lansingburgh around noon Friday, Troy Police said.

While in custody, police said they noticed the man was in what they called “‘medical distress” and called for EMS. They gave him Narcan and chest compressions and said they removed the handcuffs.

According to police, he was taken to a hospital and pronounced dead.

Troy Police Assistant Chief Steven Barker told NewsChannel 13 no other details were immediately available beyond the brief release, including where the incident took place and what led up to what police said was a medical event.

The death remains under investigation. The NYS Attorney General’s Office of Special Investigations is now involved in the investigation.
