Man gets 10 years in prison for setting his Hudson Falls apartment on fire

Hudson Falls man sentenced to 10 years for arson

Hudson Falls man sentenced to 10 years for setting apartment building on fire.

The man who set fire to the Hudson Falls apartment building where he lives was sentenced on Friday to 10 years in prison.

Peter Lemery pleaded guilty in Washington County Court in September to an arson charge for setting the October 2022 fire on Maple Street. The fire displaced seven families out of their homes.

The building was deemed a total loss.

In February 2023, NewsChannel 13 reported that Lemery initially was deemed not capable of assisting in his own defense. He was being held in the custody of the state Office of Mental Health. He eventually was deemed competent and reached a plea deal with prosecutors.

Lemery also must serve 5 years of post-release supervision.
