Carmella Mantello was sworn in Monday as Troy’s first-ever female mayor.

The inauguration happened at the Franklin Plaza rooftop.

Mantello defeated Rensselaer County Legislator Nina Nichols in an historic election in November. She will serve as the first Republican mayor of Troy since 2010.

Mantello replaced Democrat Patrick Madden, who did not run again due to term limits.
