A 20-year-old Massachusetts man accused in a deadly shooting has been found not guilty on murder charges, NewsChannel 13’s media partners at The Berkshire Eagle reported.

Angel Nieves was accused of killing Benjamin Martinez, 34, in Adams, in 2021. Martinez had three kids with Nieves’ mother, the paper reported.

Nieves shot Martinez because he thought he was stealing from him, but the defense argued there was no other evidence Nieves was behind the shooting, other than testimony from an alleged witness trying to get out of jail early.

Nieves was not immediately released, because he has a case pending in another court, investigators told the paper.
