The Capital Region continues to show support and raise money for Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

The Mechanicville-Stillwater Breast Cancer Walk was held at Tallmadge Park in Mechanicville.

The walk got some pretty impressive support, as the Mechanicville boys soccer team raised more than $6,000 for the cause.

Luke Micklas, a member of the soccer team, explained just how important the event was to him. “When I was younger, my aunt passed away from breast cancer. I wanted to do something that was important for me and my family so we’re raising as much money as possible.”

The team took part in numerous activities, including car washes and selling blankets. The team additionally took part in “flocking”, which is when plastic lawn flamingos are placed on lawns for donations.
