Mega Millions generates $70.6 million for New York state

The recent buzz leading up to the record-setting $1.35 billion Mega Millions jackpot generated more than $70.6 million for New York state.

More than $60 million of that will go to the state’s K-12 public schools.

More than $10 million will go to lottery retailers.

The winning ticket for the top prize was sold in Maine.
