Makaila Belden laid her son down for a nap on the last Sunday in February. About five minutes later, his lips were purple, and he wouldn’t wake up, she said.
The family called for help, and Belden said while she waited for EMTs to arrive, she administered CPR. Once help arrived, Belden’s son was airlifted to Albany Medical Center and put on a ventilator for a couple of days.
Her son is now breathing on his own, but doctors said if she didn’t start CPR when she did, her son may not have survived.
