More arrests coming after attack at Dick's House of Sport

A second person was arrested Wednesday in connection with the baseball bat attack at Dick’s House of Sport.

Lyric N. Jones, 21, of Albany, is facing two counts of assault, robbery and criminal possession of a weapon in the Saturday incident, Colonie Police said.

She was arraigned in Colonie Town Court and sent to Albany County Jail. Bail is set at $10,000 cash, $50,000 bond or $100,000 partially secured bond.

Earlier in the day, NewsChannel 13 spoke with Lt. Anthony Sidoti, who said he expected more arrests in assault of a father and son who had just bought brand-new Nike Air Jordan sneakers at Dick’s House of Sport.

The limited-edition White Thunder black-and-white shoes cost $215 and were released Saturday – the same day as the noontime attack at the store on Troy-Schenectady Road.

The victims had some bumps, bruises and scratchers but no life-threatening injuries.

They were about to leave the store, when the suspects grabbed baseball bats off the rack and started hitting them.

Sidoti said police have surveillance video that is angled right in the direction of where the assault took place.

“It really paints a picture of exactly what happened in there and helps us understand how things transpired. There have been larcenies there before, but this was a pretty violent and random encounter. So in my experience with the Colonie Police Department, I have not seen anything like this before and it’s pretty shocking to all of us,” he said.

Police will release video at a later date. Videos like that and cell phone videos that were taken are really helping the case, Sidoti said.

Already charged in the case is Kyle H. Fowlkes, 19, of Colonie.
