Mother’s car stolen in Albany with children still inside

Police are searching for the person responsible for stealing a vehicle in Albany with two children inside.

According to the Albany Police Department, the two children, ages three and eight, were in the vehicle when it was stolen.

Police tell us the mother left her car running near the intersection of Central Ave. and Robin St.

While the mother was away, the suspect jumped in her car and drove off with the two children.

Police say the suspect let the kids out a few blocks away and ditched the vehicle at Central Ave and Lexington shortly afterwards.

The mother has been charged with Endangering the Welfare of a Child. She has also been cited for leaving an unattended vehicle running.

Police do not know who stole the vehicle at this time. The investigation is still ongoing.
