Nearly 200 state and local firefighters have worked to put the fire out including state police and the Department Of Homeland Security.
Despite all the help from emergency resources, the Napanoch fire is expected to spread.
Department of Environmental Conservation Commissioner Basil Seggos says, a wild fire this large doesn’t happen often in our region and the weather conditions are to blame.
“It’s an unfortunate time of year. drought, heat, and this thing called climate change is changing the way New York feels and looks in late summer of 2022,” Seggos said.
Crews are still working to put the fire out.
