The National Museum of Racing is hoping that the tens of thousands of racing fans in town this weekend will check them out while looking for something to do.

“We hope people will take the time to come and see us,” said Cate Masterson, with the museum.

Take a short walk across Union Avenue and you can go back more than 150 years. The National Museum of Racing and Hall of Fame brings thoroughbred racing history to life.

Legendary announcer Tom Durkin even offers talks and tours at the museum. There are priceless works of art, trophies presented to winners of the biggest races, a chance to be a jockey or even call race. The museum’s film is an immersive experience that brings viewers on a captivating journey through the sport.

They’re eager to show it all off to people in town for the Belmont at Saratoga.

“We have literally been gifted a whole new audience to come and see what Saratoga Springs is known for – health, history, and horses. It is wonderful for the community,” she said. “Everybody is just so excited to share what is so special to us to a whole new audience.”

The museum is offering free admission and free coffee on Saturday from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m.

NewsChannel 13 has been hearing that Gov. Kathy Hochul is going to start her Belmont at Saratoga experience there.
