If you are looking to exchange your out-of-state license, now is the time.

The New York State Department of Motor Vehicles announced Tuesday a new prescreening service making it easier for new residents to exchange their out-of-state licenses.

You can now complete the service online, which will allow you to pick up your new, New York state driver’s license in just one visit to the DMV.

The new service will help customers learn if they are eligible for an exchange, and help identify what they will need to bring to the DMV along with their application, they said.

This will help customers avoid multiple trips to the DMV, they said.
