A new law has passed in New York designed to protect students and teachers from extreme heat.

It requires all school districts to come up with a plan to decrease heat in classrooms.

It also sets a maximum temperature of 88 degrees for classrooms and support service spaces.

If the temperature gets too high, the district will need to create a plan to remove students and staff from these spaces where it is practical for the school district to do so.

School districts will also be required to relieve any heat related discomfort when classroom temperatures reach 82 degrees.
