Firefighters and ambulance workers in Albany County are receiving another tax exemption.

The Albany County legislature updated legislation to provide a partial property tax exemption for active firefighters and volunteer ambulance service workers. They need to be from Albany County with at least two years of experience.

That exemption is 10% of the assessed value of the property.

For volunteers with more than 20 years of service, the exemption continues for their lifetime.
