New trial date for man charged in wife’s 2019 Amsterdam murder

There is a new trial date in the case of a man accused of murdering his wife.
The new trial date for Michael Darling is January 8, 2024, his lawyer told NewsChannel 13.
The trial was originally scheduled to start on October 23.
Darling’s lawyer, Mike Viscosi, says that date was too soon because he has not received the discovery of evidence he need to properly defend his client.
Darling is charged with murder, accused of using a rifle to kill his wife.

Darling was on the run for less than 24 hours when police found him in a wooded area in Mayfield in late May.
He’s currently being held in jail without bail.
