New York City man sentenced for role in drug trafficking crimes

A man from New York City is heading to prison after admitting to his role in a drug-trafficking crimes in our area.

That included using drug-runners who carried the drugs on commercial bus lines, the U.S. Attorney’s Office said.

Gilberto Velasquez, 38, from the Bronx, was sentenced to serve nearly six years for distributing heroin, and conspiring to traffic heroin and fentanyl. He was on parole at this time.
