$237 billion budget passes in New York State, goes to Hochul for signature
$237 billion-dollar NYS Budget Passes
It took three weeks, but lawmakers in Albany have finally agreed on a state budget.
The $237 billion budget includes plans to address the housing crisis and the influx of migrants in New York State, as well as crack down on unlicensed cannabis shops.
The finalized budget follows a cyber-attack that lawmakers say slowed down the process.
The budget was due April 1.
The spending plan now heads to Governor Kathy Hochul’s desk for a signature.
Hochul released a statement on X (formerly Twitter) after the budget passed, saying the budget was passed without raising income taxes and she looks forward to signing it in the coming days.
