Schools across New York are working to fill almost 400 teaching jobs. Today, NewsChannel13 reached out to the teacher’s union, NYSUT. That union represents more than 600,000 teachers.
Recruitment is a work in progress, according to the union. They are currently running a “grow your own grant” program, which hopes to provide a hands on pre-college experience to those interested in pursuing a teaching degree.
The program is a two year experience that will include a stipend to help cover living expenses.
